General Information

A self-drive expedition is a guided road trip where participants drive their own vehicles or rented vehicles along a pre-planned route, with guidance and support from our team.
Depending on the terrain, we recommend SUVs or 4×4 vehicles for off-road expeditions, while sedans or hatchbacks may be suitable for road trips on well-paved routes.

Booking and Payments

You can book through our website or by contacting our customer service. A deposit is typically required to secure your spot.
The package usually includes route planning, accommodation, meals, permits, and a support team. Specific inclusions may vary by expedition.

Preparation and Requirements

How much driving experience do I need?
A standard driving licence is typically sufficient. No special training is required, but participants should be comfortable with long-distance driving and varying road conditions. There is no fixed duration of driving experience required to join our expeditions. However, it is essential that drivers are skilled and confident enough to handle challenging terrains, including mountains and high passes. To ensure a smooth and safe journey, our lead driver provides instructions and guidance through radio sets, especially in more demanding areas. This support helps all participants navigate difficult sections of the route with greater ease. Remember, driving is not mandatory. For your convenience a driver can be arranged for your vehicle.
We provide a detailed packing list specific to each expedition. Generally, you should pack weather-appropriate clothing, personal items, and any medications you may need.
Yes, all drivers must hold a valid driver’s licence and meet the minimum age requirement of 21 years. Passengers of all ages are welcome, but minors must be accompanied by an adult in a vehicle.

Safety and Support

What safety measures are in place during the expedition?
Our expeditions are planned with safety as a priority. We have a support team, medical kits, and communication devices. Our routes are pre-scouted, and we provide detailed safety briefings.
Our support team includes mechanics who can handle minor repairs. For major issues, we arrange for towing and assistance to the nearest service center.
Travel insurance is highly recommended but not included in the package. It should cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and vehicle damages.

Itinerary and Activities

Can the itinerary be customized?
While we offer set itineraries, we can work with groups to customize trips based on specific interests and preferences, depending on feasibility.
Activities vary by expedition and can include sightseeing, cultural experiences, adventure sports, and nature exploration. Many activities are optional and the cost has to be borned by the participants. It will be mentioned in the itinerary.
Most expeditions include meals, with options to cater to dietary preferences and restrictions. Details are provided in the specific expedition package.

Additional Concerns

How environmentally friendly are the expeditions?
We strive to minimize our environmental impact by following Leave No Trace principles, using eco-friendly accommodations (wherever possible), and promoting sustainable practices among participants.
This depends on the specific expedition and accommodation policies. Please check with us in advance.
